Listening – Further Education

1. Kỹ năng nghe bài điền từ vào chỗ trống:

- Trước khi nghe, đọc lướt qua toàn bài để hình dung đề tài, nội dung về cái gì;

- Gạch chân, chú ý vào các từ nằm gần chỗ cần điền để trở nên tập trung hơn khi nghe thấy những từ này;

- Dựa vào ngữ cảnh và các từ xung quanh để dự đoán chỗ trống cần điền có thể là thông tin gì hay loại từ gì, ví dụ là một con số, số điện thoại, thứ/ ngày/ tháng/ năm, tên người hay địa danh…; hay các từ cần điền có thể là danh từ, động từ, danh động từ, tính từ, trạng từ, liên từ… => dựa vào từ đứng trước/ đứng sau/ cả mệnh đề/ cả câu, dựa vào các dấu hiệu như giới từ, mạo từ, cụm động từ, cấu trúc cố định, rút gọn mệnh đề quan hệ…, để dự đoán câu trả lời; ví dụ nếu có cụm “an important role” thì từ trước đó sẽ là “play/ playing/ played”; ví dụ nếu là danh từ thì có thể đoán là số ít hay số nhiều, đếm được hay không đếm được…

- Hãy chú ý đếnnhững chữ cái viết hoa và những từ/ cụm từ mang nghĩa phủ định;

- Đảm bảo rằng bạn điền đúng số từ giới hạn (ví dụ đề yêu cầu không được điền quá 2/3/xx từ gì đó)

- Đảm bảo câu trả lời của bạn viết đúng chính tả và đúng ngữ pháp; lưu ý, đối với động từ kiểm tra động từ chia ở thì nào, chia theo ngôi số ít hay nhiều; hay danh từ cần điền là danh từ đếm được hay không đếm được, số ít hay số nhiều…

- Khi nghe, viết đáp án dưới dạng viết tắt mà bản thân hiểu được. Tránh viết từ đầy đủ sẽ mất thời gian và bị lỡ phần nghe sau.

- Nếu không nghe được một từ, chuyển sang từ tiếp theo. Tránh loay hoay ở từ đó mà bỏ lỡ phần nghe sau.

2. Kỹ năng nghe bài chọn đúng – sai

- Trước khi nghe, đọc lướt hết các câu cần xác định đúng – sai mà đề bài đưa ra;

- Xác định từ khóa (key words) trong từng câu để khi nghe sẽ tập trung hơn vào câu/ đoạn chứa key words và những thông tin liên quan xung quanh;

- Chú ý đến những từ/ cụm từ mang nghĩa phủ định;

- Chú ý đến các thông tin về số liệu, số thứ tự, ngày tháng, địa điểm, khoảng cách, đặc điểm, giá trị, lợi thế, bất lợi, các dạng so sánh, giới từ, … vì câu đưa ra thường lệch thông tin về những điểm này so với bài nghe => khi nghe sẽ chú ý take note những thông tin này;

- Chú ý đến các danh từ/ động từ/ tính từ/ cụm động từ/ thành ngữ… trong câu, vì có thể bài sẽ paraphrase đi, dùng những từ đồng nghĩa khác để diễn đạt;

- Khi nghe, tập trung cao độ, tránh phân tán bởi các yếu tố tác động xung quanh;

of my host family. Since I came, I've been included in all family gatherings and outings. I also took an intensive Vietnamese language course and at the end of the first year, I was able to freely (7)

with my host family in Vietnamese. This also helped me integrate with the local culture. Viet Nam is quite a (8)

country although the roads are a bit dangerous. I was really worried when I used a friend's motorbike to get around the city.


Things are not (9)

here so I can easily live on a student's budget. I usually eat breakfast and dinner with my host family, and lunch with my Vietnamese fellow students. Vietnamese food is very healthy and delicious, and I have my (10)

dishes. I'll miss my host mum's cooking very much when I go back home!

I think this programme of study has been worthwhile. I'll return home as a much stronger, confident and culturally sensitive person.
