UNIT 4: WHEN’S YOUR BIRTHDAY?

I. Objectives:

After the lesson, students are able to:

- Asking and answer questions about someone’s birthday .

- Ss look after, solve problems and study themselves.

- Studious and obedient students and love their friends.

- Listen for specific information.

- Develop: speaking skills.

II. Language focus:

- Vocabulary: months in a year, birthday, cake, happy

- Sentence patterns: When is your birthday?- It’s on the fifth of March.

III. Teaching aids:

1. Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, pictures, cassette.

2. Students’: books, notebooks, workbooks.

IV. Procedures

1. Class organization:- Greeting

- Checking for the students' attendance.

2. Oral test:Have pupils asking and answering about dates.

Warm up

- Play recording a song: Happy birthday .

1. Look, listen and repeat

- Have ss look at the picture.

- Introduce the dialogue: They are going to listen to Mai, Linda talking about when her birthday is.

- Play the recording for the ss.

- Play again, have ss listen and repeat.

- Elicit the new word and new sentence from ss.

- Teach the new word and new sentence.

- Ask ss give some more examples.

- Have ss read the dialogue.

- Check some pairs.

2. Point and say

- Have ss look at the picture.

- Give the meaning of new words

- Teaches the new word

- Have ss work in pairs ask and answer about their friend’s birthday.

- Check ss

3. Talk.

- Have ss look at the questions

- Have ss practise ask and answer
