Note: Intonation is the rise and fall of a speaker’s voice, and is important in communication.

Speakers usually use falling intonation at the end of the statements. Falling intonation communicates certainty and finality.

Speakers often use rising intonation at the end of yes / no questions. Rising intonation can signal uncertainty and doubt.
