How to learn English effectively is a matter that most English learners care about. Learning vocabulary is a very important part of learning a language. The more words you know, the more you will be able to understand what you hear and read; and the better you will be able to say what you want to when speaking or writing. Every day you hear or read many new English words. You also find them in your dictionary when you are translating from your own language but you can’t possibly learn all these new words. Hence, your first problem is to decide which ones to concentrate on. First, learn the words that are important to the subjects you are studying. Second, learn the words that you read or hear again and again. Third, learn the words that you know you will often want to use yourself. Last, do not learn words that are rare or not useful (your teacher can help you with this). How to learn words quickly? Write the words in a notebook (with their translations or definitions) or write the words and definitions on small cards are good suggestions. Besides, you can say the words many times (if you have an electronic dictionary you can hear how the word is pronounced) then ask someone to test you. Put the words into different groups (you could use a graphic organiser) and use the words in your own speaking or writing. 

Còn về cải thiện kĩ năng nói tiếng Anh:

1. Cải thiện khả năng phát âm

Phát âm tốt các nguyên âm, phụ âm theo bảng IPA, sau đó tra phiên âm từ trên từ điển chuẩn Oxford và nhắc lại. Mở rộng hơn về phát âm các từ trong câu, sau đó đọc câu.

2. Nghe tiếng Anh nhiều hơn

Hầu hết những người học tiếng Anh đọc quá nhiều và nghe quá ít. Bạn nên nghe trong khi bạn đọc văn bản bằng mắt và sau đó đọc thành tiếng. Cố gắng bắt chước cách phát âm bạn nghe được trong bài.

3. Thực hành đọc thành tiếng

Đọc văn bản tiếng Anh thành tiếng sẽ giúp bạn phát âm mà không phải suy nghĩ về những từ phải nói. Nó sẽ giúp miệng và môi bạn quen với việc phát âm tiếng Anh một cách tự nhiên.

Nên đọc mỗi văn bản thành tiếng 2 lần. Lần đầu tiên đọc chậm và tập trung vào phát âm chính xác từng từ. Khoanh tròn từ khó và đọc lại chúng mười lần.

Lần hai, đọc nhanh hơn và tập trung vào việc nói trôi chảy, và với một ngữ điệu tự nhiên.

4. Học cụm từ, không học từng từ riêng lẻ

Bất cứ khi nào bạn học một từ mới, cố gắng đặt nó trong một câu hoàn chỉnh. Ví dụ, với từ “sunglasses”. Bạn có thể tạo ra một vài câu:

I bought new sunglasses yesterday.

How much are these sunglasses?

Nói mỗi câu khoảng 10 lần để luyện tập và ghi nhớ. 

5. Học từ những đoạn hội thoại thực tế.

Bạn có thể xem các chương trình và các bộ phim trên truyền hình với phụ đề tiếng Anh, hoặc các clip ngắn ngắn vui vui (vlog) mà các bạn trẻ trẻ Tây làm để học các kiểu hội thoại trong từng bối cảnh.

1. Learn vocabulary in individual columns
This way of learning English vocabulary I think at least once you have applied it and is very effective in forgetting words. I divided the paper into 2 columns, the left column wrote the English words, the right column wrote the Vietnamese meaning - I used to think this was a smart way to learn English. If a word is too difficult, I will write on 1 page A4. Of course I completely forgot about 80% of the words I learned very easily.
This is definitely not a quick way to learn English vocabulary for people with root loss that you should apply.
2. After learning words, they cannot review and use them
When your spirit is high, "Today I will learn 10 English words" and you can remember 10 words a day, but in the next day, if you do not review, you will definitely "get lost" immediately. If you want the vocabulary to drift into the past, please avoid repeating it and absolutely do not use it in any context. So review is very important to help you memorize new English words fastest.

3. Improve pronunciation
Good pronunciation will help people understand what you say more clearly even if you don't know many words. There are 3 levels in pronunciation skills and most English learners need to improve their pronunciation.
4. Listen to English more
Most English learners read too much and listen too little. But when children learn English, they listen first, then speak, and finally learn to read and write. If you want to develop your English speaking skills, take the time to listen more! Listen while you visually read text and then read aloud. Try to imitate the pronunciation you hear in the song
