A prominent feature in ensuring gender rights in Vietnam is the completion of the legal framework and policies on gender equality. Vietnam has developed and issued legal documents demonstrating the principles of gender equality. non-discrimination in accordance with the Law on Gender Equality 2006 and the United Nations Convention on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women, mainstreaming gender equality in law development and enforcement law in the country.
Vietnam also issued the National Strategy on Gender Equality for the period 2011-2020 with the aim of raising awareness, narrowing the gender gap and enhancing the status of women; Actively implement international and regional initiatives to promote the protection of women's rights and fight discrimination against women. The goal of equality between men and women and empowering women, one of the three millennium goals (MDG 2013), was completed by Vietnam before the deadline of 2015, making Vietnam one of the countries in the the fastest gender gap in the past 20 years.
