Chuyển từ câu trực tiếp sang trần thuật: lùi thì ( vd: từ hiện tại đơn-> quá khứ đơn, hiện tại hoàn thành -> quá khứ hoàn thành ) ; thay đổi đại từ xưng hô cho phù hợp ( vd: she -> I, we -> they ) ; thay đổi từ chỉ thời gian, nơi chốn ( vd: here -> there, tomorrow -> the next day ... )
