People in the past didn’t have many technological facilities such as computers or TVs or mobile phones, so they used to talk face to face. Not many people had a radio, so they used to listen to the news programme through a loudspeaker. Only wealthy people had a radio in the 1940s. Life in the past is hard. Although people lived in poverty, they behaved well with each other. Street vendors were seen more often in the past than today. Vietnamese women in the past liked to dye their teeth black.
There have been not many ways to entertain in the past. The children did a lot of outdoor physical activities like flying kites, playing football or swimming in the river. They used nature as our playground and often went bare-footed. They also met and talked face to face, not on a screen like today.
About school days in the past, a lot of people used to be illiterate. Ninety percent of the Vietnamese population was illiterate before 1945. All the students of different ages studied in the same classroom. They had to take various exams. Students twenty years ago were not able to use the Internet. To find relevant information or documents for their assignment, students had to go to the library and looked things up in books and encyclopedias. Additionally, they would also need to talk to some people who might provide them with useful data for their assignment. Once they gathered enough necessary information, they began to hand-write their assignment. The first draft possibly contained many mistakes. They had to rewrite it on another piece of paper for submission. Apparently, it took them a lot of time, energy to complete an assignment. Nowadays, it is great that students no longer spend hours going to the library or looking for books. They can stay at home and access the Internet to gather relevant information within a few minutes.
In addition, life in the past was difficult and inconvenient. Nowadays, thanks to the development of science and technology, our lives have been improved a lot. That's all I know. Do you know any things in the past? Tell me.
