Vietnam has been facing a combination of air, water, and solid waste pollution. However, water pollution is one of the most serious matters that is hard to ignore. Numerous rivers in Vietnam are polluted, especially rivers inside the cities. Water pollution is important to know of in Vietnam because most of the people already are sick and live in poverty; unfiltered water doesn’t help. The most significant problem with water sources recently is from Da River which supplies most of the water for Hanoi citizens. People had no water to use and they had to buy pure water or processed water for their daily routines. How expensive it is! In general, water pollution can contaminate crops. This results in unhealthy and unsanitary food. With an increase in contaminated food and improperly treated water, more humans are getting diseases. The ecosystem around Vietnam’s rivers is dying, as some people would say. The riverbanks are no longer home to animals as well and many of the streams and smaller rivers are drying up. These effects can possibly cause erosion on the Earth’s surface. The Mekong giant catfish and many other species are threatened by constantly growing pressured from fisheries, damming, and habitat destruction threatens the giant catfish and many other species. All in all, the government should raise citizens’ awareness of pollution as well as water pollution so that they will protect clean water sources and protect their own health and life.
