→ Nếu từ để hỏi ở HT <asks, says,...> thì câu tường thuật chia động từ không khác câu trực tiếp.

Eg: She says "I am cooking." → She says she is cooking.

→ Nếu từ để hỏi ở QK: Lùi về 1 thì

+ Câu khẳng định và phủ định:

Eg: He said: "I will come and see you later." → He said he would come and see me later.

+ Câu nghi vấn <Câu hỏi>

- Là Wh-question: bỏ trợ động từ

Eg: She said to Helen: "What do you do in your free time?" → She said to Helen what she did in her free time.

- Là câu hỏi mà câu tl là yes/ no: đưa if lên đầu câu

Eg: Ben asked his sister: "Do you like to come to the party with me?" → Ben asked his sister if she liked to come to the party with him.

+ Câu mệnh lệnh: thường dùng told sb (not) to-V

Eg: "Close the window", my father said. → My father told me to close the window.

"Don't be late to class", her teacher said. → Her teacher told her not to be late to class.

→ Các trạng từ trong câu:

today → that day

tonight → that night

tomorrow → the next/ following day

yesterday → the previous day/ the day before 

ago → before 

now → then

next/ on Tuesday → the next/ following Tuesday

Cách biến đổi thì của các động từ và động từ khuyết thiếu:

Present simple  →    Past simple

Present continuous  →   Past continuous

Past continuous → Past perfect continuous

Present perfect  →   Past perfect

must                 →   had to

can            →    could

Cách biến đổi từ chỉ thgian và nơi chốn:
