Here in the UK, on 31st December, we celebrate a New Year. In big cities there are fireworks, and around the country families and friends spend time together to welcome the New Year. How do people celebrate the New Year in your country?

New Year is one of the most important festivals in Viet Nam. New Year oftens fall between late January and early February. On that day, people go to the temples, visit their relatives. New Year helps people gather together. People can return their homes and take care of their family after a year of work. People osten decorate their home before New year one week. At New Year people have new clothes like jeans, shirts and especially traditional Vietnamese dresses....Especially, the children can receive lucky money. At New year, they eat rice, Chung cake and Tet cake... I like New Year because at New Year I can visit my grandparents, help my mother cook meals and I don't have to go to school.
In my country, Lunar New year is the most important festival of the year.In Viet Nam,it is also call ''Tet'' People celebrate it between January and February.Before Tet , people in Vietnam prepare many things : clean and decorate their house,buy peach blossom or apricot blossom,cook Banh chung-a traditional dish in Viet Nam,buy new clothes,... On the 30th,people gather in the square to see fireworks together,finish an old year and begin a new year,greater and happier. Then the next day,adults give chidren lucky money which is put in the red develops or go to the pagoda to get lucky.Also,they will have more time to spend with their friends and family.That is very happy. I like Tet very much.
