Are we born with an innate sense of beauty or do we acquire it?

When we are born, we don’t have enough visual acuity to see anything very well, but then we very quickly show a preference for our mother, so people resembling her are likely to be beautiful in that child’s opinion.
But, scientifically, the most beautiful faces are the ones that are geometrically average and symmetrical. The more faces you combine, the more beautiful the result becomes. Features are not to big, not too small, not too high, not too low.
However, this isn’t anything magic about faces. We also have a seemingly innate preference for symmetrical shapes or designs, average intensities of various sensory experiences, etc.
